The Sultanate of Oman has played a crucial role in facilitating the repatriation of the crew members from the vessel Eternity C, reflecting its ongoing humanitarian commitment in Yemen. The operation enabled the secure transfer of eleven crew members from Sana’a to Muscat. These sailors, hailing from the Philippines and India, were transported via a Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) aircraft. Their arrival in Muscat marks the first step of their journey back home to reunite with their families. Oman’s organized efforts ensured that the crew received essential care and safe transit following a challenging timeframe in Yemen.
Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of Labour of the Philippines, expressed profound gratitude for the humanitarian gesture from Oman. He conveyed heartfelt thanks to the Government of Oman and to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for their tireless efforts that facilitated the crew’s release. He shared his satisfaction with his visit to Oman, acknowledging the warm hospitality he experienced.
Cacdac lauded the robust ties between Oman and the Philippines, particularly in labor cooperation, which remain consistently positive. He pointed out the significant Filipino community working in Oman, emphasizing the necessity of strong relations that enhance the wellbeing of workers and fortify bilateral connections.
From India, Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, India’s Ambassador to Oman, highlighted the deep-rooted historical bond between Oman and India. He explained that over 70 years of diplomatic relations are bolstered by economic collaboration, maritime connections, and cultural understanding. The ambassador affirmed that both nations work closely across various sectors to maintain strong cooperative ties based on mutual respect.
The Indian crew member, Anel Kumar, expressed immense joy upon his release. He thanked the Sultanate of Oman for its assistance, acknowledging that the support he received enabled him to embark on his journey home. His statement mirrored the relief shared among all crew members following their liberation.
Filipino crew member Julimo Taberos also expressed deep appreciation for the Government of Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, expressing excitement to reunite with his family after a prolonged separation.
