Empower Unveils New Cooling Facility at Deira Waterfront

In a significant advancement for sustainable urban development, Empower has launched its Deira Waterfront district cooling facility in Dubai. This operational plant possesses a robust cooling capacity of 39,000 refrigeration tons, designed to cater to more than 46 buildings in the vibrant Deira Waterfront precinct.

The facility adheres to modern green-building principles, effectively integrating with the local architectural character. Its innovative design not only contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the area but also reflects Dubai's dedication to sustainable urban planning and energy efficiency.

This new establishment forms a part of Empower's wider plans to address the growing demand for district cooling in crucial areas around the emirate. With over 80% market share in Dubai's district cooling sector, Empower reinforces its leadership in the region.

The Deira Waterfront, recognized as one of Dubai's leading integrated urban areas, encompasses residential, commercial, and tourism venues. The new facility guarantees consistent, energy-efficient cooling for this key hub while aligning with the city’s aspirations to achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050.

Empower's engagement with Deira Waterfront commenced in 2018, initially providing cooling through a semi-permanent structure. The establishment of this permanent plant in 2024 significantly furthers the area's cooling capabilities. This milestone facility underscores Dubai's ongoing commitment to sustainable smart city infrastructure.
