Celebrated model and fitness advocate Milind Soman has recently celebrated his 60th birthday, proving that age is merely a construct. He asserts that true fitness transcends physical form and is deeply rooted in one's mindset. According to Milind, how individuals perceive themselves plays a crucial role in feeling either young or old.

In an interview with Bombay Times, he remarked, “Your attitude shapes your age more than your body does.” He noted observing youthful individuals who appear lethargic, while older folks exude enthusiasm and zest for life. Milind advocates that life isn't about resisting aging; it's about embracing each moment with joy and purpose.

Known for embracing demanding physical challenges, Milind successfully completed the Ironman triathlon at the age of 50, considered one of the toughest endurance contests globally, and repeated it at 60. More recently, he tackled the #FitIndianRun challenge, which encompassed a grueling 330 kilometers of running and cycling through mountainous terrains.

Reflecting on his Ironman journey, he shared that his first attempt was a testament to his willpower. When he undertook the challenge again at 60, it became a harmonious blend of mental resilience, physical training, discipline, and consistency. He firmly believes that age doesn’t impede progress; rather, a lack of discipline does.

Milind prioritizes a straightforward and balanced diet. He previously mentioned starting each day with fruits and consuming simple vegetarian meals for lunch and dinner, avoiding meat due to its digestion complexity. He emphasizes that nutritious, natural food strengthens the body.

He finds motivation in actor Shah Rukh Khan, who, like him, embraces life actively at 60. Milind believes that people today are redefining age, choosing to pursue invigorating experiences and promote well-being.

For Milind, feeling youthful equates to effortlessly tackling even simple yet challenging activities like running barefoot, swimming extensive distances, or scaling hills. His ultimate aim is not merely about aesthetics but fostering a sense of wellness and liberation in one’s body.
