Inter Miami clinched their inaugural MLS Eastern Conference final spot with an impressive 4-0 victory against Cincinnati in the semifinal showdown on Sunday.

Lionel Messi shone brilliantly, contributing a goal and assisting three others, while Tadeo Allende netted a brace in the second half. Rising star Mateo Silvetti, at just 19, also made his mark with a goal and an assist.

Next, Miami will take on New York City FC, the fifth seed, who secured their place by defeating the top-seeded Philadelphia Union 1-0 in the other semifinal.

Cincinnati faced elimination at home for the third consecutive playoff season, failing to reach the Eastern final again.

Manager Javier Mascherano decided to rest star striker Luis Suarez, who was serving a suspension from a previous match. Nevertheless, Messi and the younger players from Miami rose to the occasion.

With six goals and six assists in the playoffs, Messi has been pivotal in all Inter Miami's postseason goals so far, building on his regular season tally of 29 goals and 19 assists, positioning him as a potential two-time MLS MVP.

The scoring opened in the 19th minute when Jodi Alba intercepted a pass, and Silvetti delivered a perfect cross for Messi, who scored with a header past Cincinnati's goalkeeper, Roman Celentano.

Silvetti struck again in the 57th minute following a smart play involving Allende and Messi. Allende completed his brace with goals at the 62nd and 74th minutes, both set up through Messi's exceptional playmaking.

This victory marks a significant achievement in Inter Miami's playoff history, and fans are now looking forward to their encounter with New York City FC in the Eastern Conference final.
