The City of Ottawa has officially given the green light for the Lansdowne 2.0 redevelopment, awarding the construction contract to EBC Inc. This marks a significant milestone in a long-term project aimed at revitalizing one of the city’s key urban hubs.
Following council approval of the construction plan on November 7, the city completed all necessary legal and commercial reviews, confirmed bonding and insurance requirements, and executed the construction agreement. “The contract with EBC Inc. has been executed and the City of Ottawa has issued a Commence Work Order,” said Tammy Rose, General Manager of Infrastructure.
Phase 1 of the redevelopment, which began on November 28, focuses on the construction of a new Event Centre. Key elements of this phase include berm removal, environmental remediation, site servicing, modifications to TD Place, construction of an underground loading dock, accessible drop-off areas, new berm construction, and landscaping and wayfinding improvements around the Great Lawn.
City officials have confirmed there will be no planned road closures or detours during Phase 1, and TD Place will remain open to visitors throughout the construction period.
To keep the public informed, a comprehensive construction communications campaign will be rolled out alongside the project. Residents and businesses will also have the opportunity to attend a drop-in information session to learn about construction timelines, milestones, and mitigation measures. The date for this session will be announced soon.
The Lansdowne 2.0 project represents a decade-long commitment to revitalizing one of Ottawa’s most important community spaces, promising modern infrastructure, improved public amenities, and a vibrant urban experience.
