Kyrgyzstan Enhances Law Enforcement Facilities

Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in bolstering its law enforcement capabilities as Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, assessed the upgrades to vital facilities under the Ministry of Internal Affairs during a recent visit to Bishkek.

This inspection coincided with the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic’s independence. During his tour, Kasymaliev observed newly renovated infrastructures, renovated buildings, and sophisticated technical systems aimed at elevating the operational efficiency of police and security agencies nationwide.

Among the key sites visited was the “Shumkar” special regiment, where extensive reconstruction efforts had recently been finalized. The unit now boasts a new barrack, an indoor football facility, refreshed office environments, and an upgraded gym. Comprehensive repair work was also completed throughout the complex to enhance both working and living conditions for personnel.

Kasymaliev remarked that enhancing the facilities and environment for law enforcement personnel plays a crucial role in fostering better physical conditioning, more effective professional development, and enhanced operational performance. Officials believe that modern infrastructure will boost morale and readiness in specialized police units.

The team also assessed the revamped Expert-Forensic Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where officials showcased several cutting-edge systems currently utilized for criminal investigations. Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov noted that the forensic lab has been equipped with modern molecular genetic technologies capable of producing precise forensic analyses.

Additionally, authorities presented the “POISK” automated ballistic system and the “Sonda” fingerprint identification system, both targeting the acceleration of criminal inquiries and enhancing the reliability of evidence assessment. These technologies were highlighted as aligning with international standards and marking an important leap in modernizing Kyrgyzstan's law enforcement capabilities.

Kasymaliev also visited the Internal Affairs Department building in the Sverdlovsk district of Bishkek, where significant renovations have recently concluded. The upgrades included the replacement of engineering systems, enhancements to electrical networks, and improvements to lighting and power supply systems, aimed at providing safer and more efficient working environments for police personnel.

At the end of the visit, Adylbek Kasymaliev underlined the importance of enhancing the technical capabilities and infrastructure of law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and build trust between the citizenry and police forces. He asserted that modern policing necessitates not only well-trained officers but also cutting-edge equipment and supportive working environments.

The government of Kyrgyzstan continues to allocate resources toward security infrastructure as part of widespread reforms focused on modernizing state entities and upgrading public services across the nation.
