Following a brief hiatus to mourn the passing of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson has made a triumphant return to performing. The 43-year-old singer reignited her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Friday night, marking her first performance since the unfortunate loss.
Despite the somber backdrop of her break, Clarkson radiated joy and energy as she engaged with her audience. Her signature humor and authenticity shone through, creating an uplifting atmosphere.
During her concert, the 'Since U Been Gone' artist created special moments for two couples in attendance. One couple who had come from London was met with playful encouragement from Clarkson for an onstage proposal. When the boyfriend hesitated, she humorously prompted, “Say, ‘yes,’ bitch!”, eliciting laughter and applause.
Later, addressing another couple celebrating a decade of marriage, she exclaimed, “You made it a decade? F**k yeah, look at that!” Clarkson even joked about officiating a vow renewal, saying, “Do you both promise to keep dancing through life together? For another 50 or 60 years? Aim high!”
The current run of performances was initially set for August 2025 but was postponed after Blackstock's cancer diagnosis. Following his death on August 7, Clarkson took time off to support their two children.
On the day before his passing, Clarkson posted a heartfelt message, stating:
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children's father has been ill, and I need to be fully present for them right now.”
Making sure to apologize to her fans, she confirmed her commitment to returning once she was ready.
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock were married from 2013 to 2022. Aside from being her husband, Blackstock managed Clarkson's career for many years. They share two children and, although their marriage ended three years ago, they have reportedly maintained a cooperative co-parenting relationship for the well-being of their kids.
While Clarkson hasn't publicly discussed how Blackstock's death has impacted her, sources indicate she is taking the necessary time to heal. This loss also contributed to her missing several episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this year.
Her return to the Las Vegas stage signifies more than just a musical revival—it reflects her resilience and commitment to her fans. Renowned for her powerful vocals and candid personality, Clarkson has channeled her grief into heartfelt performances filled with gratitude.
Clarkson's Studio Sessions residency, already receiving rave reviews, will host three more shows this month. Fans have celebrated her ability to balance vulnerability with exuberance, making her performances both intimate and uplifting.
