Kate Winslet attended the world premiere of her directorial debut, Goodbye June, alongside her son Joe Anders on December 3 at the Curzon Mayfair in London. The Christmas drama, written by 21-year-old Joe, marks the Oscar-winning actress’s first time directing a feature film.

Winslet looked stunning in an Elie Saab gown, paired with a gold belt and elegant jewelry, while Joe chose a classic black suit with a white shirt. Co-stars Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, Johnny Flynn, and Timothy Spall also graced the red carpet.

Goodbye June will be released in select U.S. and U.K. theaters on December 12, 2025, and will premiere on Netflix on Christmas Eve, December 24.

Speaking about the project, Winslet said she was motivated to direct to protect her son’s vision. “After he wrote the screenplay, I promised him I would produce it and play Julia. But when it came to choosing a director, I realized I couldn’t let it go. I wanted to direct it myself because giving it to someone else would make it theirs,” she explained.

She added that collaborating with her son offered a unique experience. “He’s incredibly smart about film, and having him with me every day was fantastic. We learned so many new things about each other while making this movie.”

Winslet shares Joe with her ex-husband, director Sam Mendes. The couple separated in 2010 and finalized their divorce in 2011.
