The much-anticipated ‘Jumanji 3’ has officially commenced filming, marking the return of one of the most beloved adventure franchises in Hollywood. The production shared the inaugural on-set image with Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black donning their characters’ costumes, celebrating the new adventure. The picture was captioned, “Look who’s on the loose,” igniting excitement among fans.
Kevin Hart reposted the image, sharing his excitement for the project and teasing that this upcoming sequel is set to be their most expansive yet.
This untitled third installment follows the immense success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), both of which revitalized the classic 1995 story for a new generation and achieved remarkable box office success. Jake Kasdan returns to direct and co-write, alongside collaborators Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is slated to hit theaters on December 11, 2026.
Just a day prior to the beginning of filming, Dwayne Johnson shared a sneak peek from the Universal Studios backlot, delighting fans as he made his way to the set. He expressed how special it was to film in Los Angeles once again after several years.
Johnson also mentioned a significant detail regarding his character, revealing that he will wear a necklace featuring the original dice from the 1995 Jumanji film. He noted this as a tribute to Robin Williams and an acknowledgment of the franchise’s legacy, as they start what he referred to as “our final Jumanji.”
Returning cast members include Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Lamorne Morris, and Danny DeVito. Johnson recently shared clips from the table read, mentioning that getting everyone back resulted in continuous laughter.
The previous Jumanji films have performed phenomenally, with Welcome to the Jungle grossing over $950 million and The Next Level earning more than $801 million worldwide. With production now underway and the full cast back together, audiences can expect another exhilarating, touching, and high-energy adventure when Jumanji 3 gets released in 2026.
