Oilers Sign Jack Roslovic to One-Year, $1.5M Deal

The Edmonton Oilers have successfully signed free agent forward Jack Roslovic, 28, to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. The move comes after the team made a second push for Roslovic, who initially passed on the Oilers earlier in the free agent period.

Roslovic’s Contract and Recent Moves

Roslovic, who recently changed agents after failing to secure a deal over the summer, reportedly sought $3 million annually. Despite that, he accepted the Oilers’ offer, signaling a mutual interest in finding a fit for the upcoming NHL season.

It was reported:

“There’s word tonight that they have re-engaged with Jack Roslovic, who they talked with around July 1. Roslovic, of course, is unsigned. But the Oilers have re-engaged with him, and we’ll see where this goes tonight.”

Moments later, it was confirmed:

“He’s signing here. Roslovic is going to sign in Edmonton.”

Why the Oilers Are an Attractive Destination

Analysts highlighted the appeal of joining Edmonton:

“If you’re a complementary player, being a Mangiapane, being an Isaac Howard, being a Jack Roslovic with the opportunity to play in certain spots… the Oilers are appealing… It’s a great place to look to go to as we’ve seen over the last few years.”

Performance Overview

Roslovic has been a consistent even-strength scorer over recent seasons. During the 2024-25 NHL season, he ranked 65th among all forwards in points per 60 minutes, recording 22 goals and 17 assists across 81 games for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Forward Depth in Edmonton

Edmonton’s forward ranks are now notably crowded. Questions remain about how newcomers like David Tomasek or Ike Howard will adapt once Roslovic joins the lineup. Injured forward Mattias Janmark may also find himself on the roster bubble as the team evaluates options.
