Indian Woman Ignites Controversy Over Voting Claims

Post by : Mina Carter

Following a viral incident involving a Brazilian woman, an Indian woman has found herself in the eye of a storm. Urrmi, featured on her X account, posted images of herself showcasing an inked finger, asserting that she participated in elections across two states.

Two Posts, Two States

Her May 13, 2024 post depicts her voting in Pune for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, captioned: “Go Vote, Pune! Voted for development, voted for clean governance, voted for a Modi-fied India!”

A second post from November 6, 2025, states: “Voted for a Modi-fied India! Jaai ke Vote daali, Bihar!”

These declarations stirred discourse, with political figures circulating them to contest allegations of voter fraud. Some social media commentators surmised that the second post could be interpreted as sarcastic.

Urrmi's Clarification

In the wake of her November 6 post's widespread attention, Urrmi clarified she did not cast a vote in Bihar that day. She stated: “Okay, this was just for motivation. I never claimed I voted today — I said I voted. And everyone knows it was in Maharashtra. So calm down! Motivated enough? Now your turn, Bihar. Go vote!!”

Accusations by AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party leveled accusations against BJP representatives for purportedly voting in both Delhi and Bihar elections. BJP leaders Rakesh Sinha, Santosh Ojha, and Nagendra Kumar were specifically named. Sinha responded, asserting he had legally transferred his vote from Delhi to Bihar, terming the accusations as “baseless and morally contested.”

The Brazilian Model Controversy

Previously, a photograph of Brazilian model Larissa Nery circulated, claiming she voted at 22 polling locations in Haryana under various names. Nery clarified that the image was old and from when she was 20, expressing disbelief at being associated with Indian electoral processes.

These occurrences underline the heightened scrutiny of India's electoral system and the significant role social media plays in magnifying allegations of voter fraud, whether they carry weight or are absurd.
