England Urged to Rethink Strategy to Revive Ashes
After a poor start to the Ashes, England must change their game plan quickly, says former Australia
Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood from Australia intends to continue his international cricket career across all formats, despite being sidelined for the entire Ashes series due to injury. At 34, Hazlewood is among a group of Australian players considered to be on the brink of the end of their Test careers.
A hamstring injury took Hazlewood out of the series, followed by an Achilles issue that delayed his training return. Nonetheless, he remains dedicated to playing for Australia with both the red and white ball.
“Definitely,” he shared with Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. “I still feel physically strong. There are minor injuries, but I’m resolved to play all three formats to the best of my ability. The diversity keeps it engaging and stimulating.”
After missing the final three Tests of the Ashes, Hazlewood is now concentrated on regaining match fitness for Australia’s T20 World Cup campaign in India and Sri Lanka next year. “Injuries that happen mid-series always put you behind. I could’ve come back for one or two Tests, but that would’ve been risky. Every day off adds to the challenge of getting back in prime condition,” he remarked.
Hazlewood stressed the importance of a gradual return to avoid further injuries, dedicating his efforts to be prepared for future challenges. Fans can expect to see him bowling his best once he recovers full fitness and match form, demonstrating his commitment to the Australian team across all formats.
