A pivotal conference convened in Hanoi, led by Vietnam's top military and political figures, aimed at assessing the execution of collaboration protocols between the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission and the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee, covering the period from 2023 to the present.
Co-chaired by General Phan Van Giang, a Politburo member and Minister of National Defense, alongside Tran Duc Thang, who is also a Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi City Party, the assembly included senior officials from military agencies, governmental ministries, and local administrations, all focused on enhancing defense and security cooperation within the capital.
Reports shared at the conference indicated significant joint efforts in implementing Party resolutions, state regulations, and national defense strategies in conjunction with socio-economic initiatives in Hanoi. Such collaboration has reportedly bolstered political stability and increased the city's readiness for defense in recent years.
The review underscored initiatives aimed at strengthening the national defense framework in conjunction with public safety networks and local defense units throughout Hanoi. Emphasis was also placed on the effective management and utilization of defense land for significant infrastructure projects while ensuring military and security priorities remain intact.
During the conference, General Phan Van Giang urged military units based in Hanoi to remain vigilant regarding security conditions and to be prepared for any threats to defense. He highlighted the necessity of crafting rapid response strategies to guarantee the security of political establishments, critical national sites, and major public gatherings in the capital.
The Defense Minister also advocated for synchronized planning between defense strategies and socio-economic development frameworks, reinforcing Hanoi's long-term developmental aspirations. He emphasized that future urban planning should amalgamate economic growth with robust defense and security systems to cultivate a safer and more resilient capital.
Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang pointed out the critical need to bolster local military capacities at the commune and ward levels. He urged the further development of reserve forces, community militia systems, and greater community involvement in national defense initiatives.
Moreover, Tran Duc Thang underscored the importance of social welfare policies for military personnel and their families. He called on local authorities to ensure employment opportunities, housing initiatives, and community reintegration for returning soldiers post-service. Special care will be prioritized for veterans and families who have contributed significantly to national defense.
The conference attendees unanimously agreed that a strong partnership between military entities and Hanoi's government is vital for maintaining political stability, ensuring public safety, and facilitating sustainable growth within Vietnam's capital. Leaders committed to enhancing collaboration frameworks in the forthcoming years to fortify Hanoi’s defense posture.
