Fujairah Crown Prince Hosts WFCC President to Champion Chess and Youth Creativity

Fujairah, UAE — In a cordial meeting at Al Rumaila Palace, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, received Marjan Kovacevic, president of the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC). Also present was Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barkat, the WFCC vice president who leads the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.

The Crown Prince spoke about the emirate’s eagerness to deepen ties with international sporting bodies such as the WFCC. He stressed Fujairah’s focus on using chess and similar intellectual pursuits to cultivate inventive thinking and clear reasoning among young people.

Highlighting local leadership, he noted that under the stewardship of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, the emirate continues to invest in cultural and sporting programmes that help develop talent and encourage strategic, innovative minds.

Marjan Kovacevic thanked the Crown Prince for the warm reception and welcomed the prospect of closer collaboration. He said working with Fujairah could unlock fresh international initiatives to broaden chess’s reach at home and abroad.

The exchange reaffirmed Fujairah’s emergence as a centre for cultural and intellectual sport, complementing the UAE’s broader aim to inspire creativity and excellence among its youth.
