Dubai has introduced one of the largest global awards focused on cultural and heritage preservation. The Erth Dubai Award, inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to recognize individuals and groups dedicated to documenting and showcasing Dubai's rich heritage.

This initiative calls upon citizens, residents, and local entities to share narratives that highlight the social and cultural essence of Dubai. It emphasizes the vital connection between the emirate's vibrant historical context and its ambitious future, signifying that heritage and advancement walk hand in hand.

The award boasts a total prize pool of over AED5 million and is divided into two principal categories: community and government/private sector. The community section includes sub-categories such as Best Creatively Documented Story, Best Family Legacy Story, Best Social Media Story, Best Documenter of Oral Heritage, and Best Resident Story. Each winner is set to receive AED500,000, and the grand prize for the top overall entry is AED1 million.

The Erth Dubai Award encourages imaginative storytelling that genuinely represents Emirati identity. Submissions, open to all residents and citizens, will be preserved in an interactive digital archive, ensuring long-term availability for researchers, cultural institutions, and the public.

Participants can submit entries via the Erth Dubai website and the Erth Dubai app, which is accessible on both the Apple Store and Google Play. Registration is open until 15 January 2026, with the award ceremony anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.

This launch underscores Dubai’s continual commitment to preserving its historical narrative, with the Erth Dubai initiative already drawing thousands of community contributions. By recognizing these narratives, the award aspires to protect the emirate's dynamic heritage while motivating future generations to embrace and sustain its cultural narrative.
