The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation’s Planning and Development Department, known as “Trakhees,” has successfully conducted a comprehensive inspection campaign in the first quarter of 2026, assessing 356 beauty establishments, which include men’s and women’s salons throughout Dubai.
Officials reported an impressive compliance rate of 94.11%, underscoring strong commitment to health and safety regulations within the personal care sector. These inspections are part of Trakhees’ relentless effort to enhance public health standards, elevate service quality, and ensure a safe operational landscape.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) Department Management, focusing on the essential inspection of health criteria and operational guidelines adhered to by salons and beauty centers.
Inspection teams meticulously evaluated key aspects, such as overall cleanliness, correct sterilization methods, safe practices regarding equipment and cosmetic use, alongside abiding by the regulations governing business operations. Authorities aimed to enhance awareness amongst business owners and employees on maintaining hygiene and ensuring a secure atmosphere for clientele.
Eng. Abdulla Mohammed Belhoul, CEO of the Planning and Development Department at Trakhees, remarked that the campaign demonstrates the department’s vigorous and preventative stance on safeguarding community health and safety. He noted that the high compliance rate illustrates a successful regulatory framework in instilling a robust culture of compliance among establishments.
Belhoul also mentioned that measures against non-compliant establishments are part of a stringent policy that does not accommodate any health violation, regardless of severity.
Further, Trakhees is focused on enhancing its inspection and monitoring skills to swiftly identify and address any non-compliant practices to protect both clients and employees, thereby fostering high operational standards within Dubai’s personal care industry.
