Dubai Ports Set New Trade Record with AED708 Billion

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Dubai solidifies its reputation as a leading trade hub, with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) declaring a remarkable AED708 billion in commercial operations for 2024. This milestone underscores not only the economic progress but also Dubai’s strategic role in global maritime trade.

Since the establishment of the Furda Department in 1886 on Dubai Creek, Dubai’s ports have transformed into one of the most sophisticated maritime centers worldwide. Currently, PCFC oversees transactions across more than 146 ports in 76 nations, employing over 155,000 individuals and acting as a pillar for Dubai’s financial strategy.

Powering Dubai’s Economic Engine

PCFC plays a pivotal role in the emirate’s economy through its administration of the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), recognized as the largest free zone globally. This zone hosts over 12,000 businesses, creating a substantial half a million jobs both directly and indirectly. Ambitious restructuring plans for JAFZA aim to bolster infrastructure, draw fresh investments, and redefine Dubai’s economic future.

“We are in constant competition with ourselves – every new figure sets a higher standard for excellence,” remarked PCFC officials, highlighting their commitment to innovation and performance-oriented growth.

Technological Innovations and Global Growth

In 2025, PCFC introduced several initiatives under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Among these are the pioneering Dubai Ports Code, setting new international technical standards for ports and marinas, and cutting-edge digital solutions like Port Eye, which leverages AI and drones for surveillance, and Marsa, enhancing marina management.

A notable surge in international yacht arrivals, a staggering 149% increase from the previous year, exemplifies Dubai's rising status as a luxury maritime destination, fueled by its superior infrastructure and exceptional services.

Maritime Leadership Moving Forward

With key ports such as Jebel Ali, Mina Rashid, and Al Hamriya, PCFC is driving Dubai’s quest to be the most expansive, secure, and connected maritime hub in the world. Through strategic growth, technological advancements, and favorable business policies, Dubai is positioned as a premier center for trade, investment, and maritime excellence.
