Dubai, UAE — A cohort of Emirati media students has recently concluded an international field assignment, gaining invaluable hands-on experience thanks to the Emirati Media Talent Pledge. This initiative, led by the Dubai Media Council (DMC) in partnership with Dubai Chambers and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), aims to fuse academic education with real-world media exposure.
The program immerses students in dynamic newsroom settings during significant global economic events. This year's journey took them to Tbilisi and Yerevan, coinciding with the ‘Doing Business with Georgia’ and ‘Doing Business with Armenia’ Forums hosted by Dubai Chambers in early October.
During their travels, students contributed to content creation, on-site media coordination, and coverage of business interactions that showcased Dubai's evolving trade partnerships worldwide. They collaborated with communication teams to manage press activities, documenting impactful meetings and producing multilingual materials for diverse audiences.
Officials associated with the initiative emphasized that this experience is part of Dubai’s broader vision of fostering a skilled national media workforce, prepared to represent the Emirate on a global platform. This program further aligns with Dubai's aims to enhance economic outreach and cement its status as a hub for international collaboration.
Faculty from HCT remarked on how this collaboration allowed students to practicalize their skills in storytelling, production, and communication in expedited environments, akin to real-world scenarios that resonate with the institution’s applied learning philosophy. The students expressed that this opportunity enhanced their understanding of how media teams narrate significant business missions and how such storytelling enriches Dubai's global prominence.
Launched under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the Arab Media Forum last year, the Emirati Media Talent Pledge continues to facilitate training, mentorship, and access to industry leaders for budding Emiratis through vital collaborations with prominent media organizations.
This recent mission exemplifies the ongoing effort to cultivate future media professionals who can enhance the UAE’s evolving economic diplomacy while contributing to its expanding media landscape.
