With just three days left for its release, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is already creating a buzz at the box office. Advance bookings opened on Monday for the first weekend, initially across 2,000 shows, with more added as demand surged. The early hours saw a rush of ticket sales, though the pace slowed slightly by the evening.
The film crossed the ₹1 crore mark in pre-sales within a few hours on Monday. By Tuesday afternoon, collections reached around ₹1.4 crore for the first day, with weekend projections expected to surpass ₹2 crore. This comes despite higher ticket prices, with an average of ₹310 for both regular and IMAX screenings. Premium shows, including those at INOX Maison in Mumbai priced at ₹1,620, are already sold out for Friday, and cities like Gurgaon have also seen ₹1,500+ tickets sell quickly.
Industry insiders say that while Dhurandhar’s advance bookings are promising, it will face stiff competition from major action and spy films released earlier this year. Ranveer Singh’s earlier hit, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, had collected just under ₹4 crore in pre-sales in 2023. Analysts believe Dhurandhar has the potential to perform well, but crossing the ₹10 crore mark in advance bookings may be challenging.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy working undercover in the gangs of Lyari, Pakistan. The story draws inspiration from real events and includes several historical figures from Pakistan’s modern history. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. Dhurandhar is set to release in theaters on December 5.
