New Bridge Set to Revitalize Chanthaburi's Economy

In a transformative move for Chanthaburi Province, Thailand, the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) is advancing a pivotal bridge construction across Khlong Phra Phutth. This initiative aims to streamline transportation between Pong Nam Ron District and Soi Dao District, bolstering local economic growth and agricultural activity.

Transportation officials report that the bridge is over 56 percent complete, expected to be finalized by February 2027. Upon its completion, the structure will notably shorten travel distances and reduce transit times for residents and vehicles.

For years, villagers from Ban Khlong Khot and Ban Samrong Lang faced significant challenges, forced to navigate lengthy detours exceeding 20 kilometers between the districts. This lack of direct access not only delayed journeys but also inflated fuel costs, complicating the transport of agricultural goods.

This anticipated bridge will extend about 100 meters, featuring two lanes and a 9-meter width. In conjunction, a 1,930-meter connecting road with asphalt surfacing, safety barriers, and enhanced lighting will ensure improved safety for motorists and local communities alike.

Officials predict that travel time will decrease drastically from nearly 30 minutes to approximately 5 minutes. The bridge will also link key highways, including Highway 3210 and Highway 3193, facilitating smoother transportation throughout the province.

Renowned for its agricultural prowess, particularly in durian and longan production, Chanthaburi stands to benefit significantly from this infrastructure upgrade. Authorities believe this enhanced connectivity will aid farmers and traders in swiftly transporting their goods to markets and export hubs.

Aligned with the government’s goal of enhancing rural infrastructure, promoting travel safety, and strengthening local economies, this project also aims to foster tourism and investment in the region. Officials are optimistic that better transportation links will catalyze future developments.

With a budget of approximately 43 million baht, this bridge initiative marks a crucial development in modernizing Eastern Thailand's transportation framework, ultimately improving the daily lives of countless residents.
