Abu Dhabi Celebrates Excellence in Government Awards 2026

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presided over the ceremony honoring recipients of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance at ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.

Among the attendees were prominent leaders and officials, including Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Dr. Ahmed Mubarak bin Nawi Al Mazrouei, and Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, along with committee members from the award jury.

This award ceremony recognizes government entities for their achievements in excellence, innovation, and improving public service delivery. Honorees were celebrated for their adherence to best practices, efficiency enhancements, and provision of high-quality services aligned with Abu Dhabi's objectives and global standing.

Sheikh Khaled remarked that the initiative reflects the leadership's commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation across governmental institutions. He emphasized that such programs transform public services to be more proactive and responsive to community needs.

This award cycle evaluated 37 entities and 103 collaborative initiatives across six categories. It included three Excellence Awards for top-performing government departments alongside awards for initiatives that encourage innovation and partnership.

Evaluators comprised over 90 local and international experts, supported by a technical jury and advanced AI tools to ensure precise and equitable assessments of performance.

In the Excellence Awards, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi secured the top spot, recognized for significant accomplishments, such as reducing infant mortality from 6.8 to 3.8 per 1,000 births in two years and boasting a remarkable IVF success rate of 56%.

Abu Dhabi Police earned second place for its strong governance and community engagement. Its campaign “We Are All Police” mobilized over 80,000 volunteers from diverse nationalities. The police force also managed to cut emergency response times to 6.25 minutes in 2025.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi captured third place by fostering tourism growth, increasing visitor numbers, and promoting Emirati culture globally, successfully adding three cultural elements to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

Various significant projects were celebrated in the Collaborative Initiatives Awards. The Department of Health's Centres of Excellence program was recognized with the Strategic Impact Initiative Award, supported by the Abu Dhabi Census project, which utilized 38 million records from 29 entities to establish a real-time digital population system.

The Department of Government Enablement's TAMM 3.0 received the Digital and Artificial Intelligence Initiative Award, while the Abu Dhabi Child Insights System from the Early Childhood Authority also earned accolades, utilizing data from over 14 government entities to enhance services and offer predictive insights for policy development.

Additionally, the Community and Family Impact Initiative Award was given to the Al Falah Development Initiative by the Department of Community Development. This project engaged 13 partners and 86 stakeholders, delivering 24 programs over six months, improving the well-being of 67,000 residents in Al Falah.

These awards underscore Abu Dhabi’s unwavering commitment to enhancing government performance, fostering innovation, and elevating the quality of services for its residents.
