California Bomb Plot Foiled: 4 Arrested Ahead of New Year’s Eve

US federal authorities have arrested four members of the far-left group Turtle Island Liberation Front in California while they were planning a New Year’s Eve bomb attack.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi said that the Justice Department and FBI disrupted a “massive and horrific terror plot.” The arrested members include 30-year-old Audrey Illeene Carroll, 32-year-old Zachary Aaron Page, 24-year-old Dante Gaffield, and 41-year-old Tina Lai. They have been charged with conspiracy and possession of an unregistered destructive device.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects working in the Mojave Desert near Los Angeles. According to the plan, they intended to simultaneously plant bombs at Amazon-type logistics centers on New Year’s Eve. The suspects believed the explosions would draw less attention amid fireworks celebrations.

The group describes itself as dedicated to the “liberation of all colonized peoples” and has previously campaigned against ICE detentions and deportations.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said that while federal and local officials may differ on immigration policies, they work together to ensure the safety of residents.
