A pedestrian in his 70s has died after being struck by a vehicle near Belleville, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The fatal collision occurred on Old Highway 2 on Saturday evening, prompting an ongoing investigation.
Police said officers were called to the scene just west of Montrose Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Following the incident, a section of Old Highway 2 was closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene and gathered evidence. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
