Sriram Raghavan’s anticipated war film Ikkis, starring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, has a fresh release date set for January 1, 2026. Initially slated for December 25, the film's schedule has shifted. Amitabh Bachchan revealed the news on X, noting that “some astrologers” recommended the new release date as being more auspicious, suggesting that astrological guidance influenced the change over commercial considerations.
The project is backed by Maddock Films, who also introduced a new poster showcasing Agastya Nanda. Ikkis will narrate the tale of bravery and sacrifice, focusing on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, recognized as India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. The film features notable performances from Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat.
For Agastya Nanda, this marks his inaugural theatrical venture, following his earlier performance in The Archies (2023) on Netflix. The film carries additional significance as it is expected to be Dharmendra’s last appearance, adding a poignant touch to the actor's legacy.
The anticipated trailer for Ikkis will debut in theaters soon, offering fans a sneak peek into the gripping narrative and talent on display. The creators are optimistic that the January release will kick off the new year on a high note.
In other news, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar remains a strong contender at the box office, reportedly raking in ₹460 crore net in India. With Ikkis now pushed to January, it strategically avoids competition and sets the stage for a promising beginning to the year.
Fans of Agastya Nanda and war film aficionados are counting down the days to Ikkis, as the film is poised to deliver a rich narrative of history, valor, and cinematic artistry, signifying a noteworthy start to 2026.
