Celebrations Ignite Al Layyah Canal for UAE's 54th Union Day

Sharjah — The emirate is celebrating the 54th Eid Al Etihad (Union Day) with an exciting launch at the newly opened Al Layyah Canal. Running from November 26 to December 2, the festivities are welcoming residents and tourists from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM each day.

Transforming Al Layyah Canal into a lively festive hub for the first time, the celebrations showcase Emirati heritage through a mix of traditional performances and family-friendly attractions. The air is rich with patriotic spirit as local folk groups such as Al Razfa and Al Ayalah present rhythmic displays celebrating local culture. Senior members of the community shared nostalgic tales from the era of unity during the opening ceremony.

Visitors can look forward to a range of interactive shows throughout the week, which actively engage the audience. Local youth initiatives and family businesses are highlighted, featuring innovative products that reflect Emirati roots. A national performance named “Sultan of Sharjah” by the Al-Shaer Band further enhances the evening, complemented by a captivating light show across the canal.

Families will find dedicated children's zones with play and creative workshop areas, fostering artistic expression through drawing and crafts.
