Xi Jinping Advocates for Yiwu Model in Economic Strategies

During his remarks from Beijing, Xi highlighted that the achievements of Yiwu exemplify how modest-scale industries can evolve into robust and competitive markets. The city has metamorphosed its small commodities sector into a formidable economic engine, which is now celebrated as the “Yiwu development model.”

The Chinese leadership regards this model as a prime example of leveraging local resources and grassroots innovation for development. Xi urged all regions to meticulously analyze this approach and implement it according to their unique economic strengths and contexts.

Currently, Yiwu hosts over 1.26 million business entities and facilitates trade with more than 230 countries and regions. By the year 2025, its export volume is projected to rank highest among all county-level regions in China, underscoring its global significance.
