Vince Gill Celebrated with Lifetime Honour at CMA Awards 2025

During the CMA Awards 2025 on Wednesday, November 19, Vince Gill received the esteemed Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. As he took the stage, Brandi Carlile and Patty Loveless delivered a heartfelt tribute, performing Gill’s iconic song “When I Call Your Name.” Launched in 2012, this award has honoured country legends like Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and last year's winner, George Strait, who presented the award to Gill.

In a light-hearted tone, Gill kicked off his acceptance speech with a humorous remark about his unique status as a recipient who has never smoked cannabis. He then highlighted the friendship he shares with Willie Nelson, praising his genuine warmth and affection for family. Gill expressed gratitude towards those who have influenced his journey, including the CMA team, the Grand Ole Opry community, and his dedicated touring staff. He fondly mentioned his children, shared a playful jest about his youngest daughter's guitarist boyfriend, and affectionately referred to his wife, Amy Grant, as the “kindest soul” he knows.

Esteemed figures in the industry have hailed Gill as a pioneer whose artistry embodies the essence of country music. His impressive career spans five decades, earning him 22 Grammy Awards, four CMA Song of the Year titles—a record—alongside prestigious recognitions such as the Irving Waugh Award of Excellence in 2014 and the CMA Foundation Humanitarian Award in 2017. He has also been inducted into both the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame, while also being a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In 2025, to commemorate his 50 years in the music industry, Gill launched a new EP collection named 50 Years from Home. The first single, I Gave You Everything I Had, premiered on October 17. This accolade places Gill among a revered cadre of country music legends whose legacies continue to influence the genre.
