Vietnam's President To Lam Kicks Off Visit to China

President To Lam has officially commenced his state visit to China, a critical milestone in reinforcing the bond between the two nations. This visit is scheduled from April 14 to April 17, 2026.

Accompanied by his wife and a distinguished Vietnamese delegation, To Lam arrived in Beijing on the morning of April 14. The delegation was warmly welcomed at Beijing International Airport by senior Chinese officials.

Present at this reception were prominent Chinese leaders and representatives, along with officials from the Communist Party of China, diplomats, and members of the Vietnamese embassy. Additionally, members of the Vietnamese community and students residing in China gathered to greet the delegation.

This visit holds significant meaning for both nations, as Vietnam embarks on a new phase of its development following its 14th National Congress, while China advances its 15th Five-Year Plan. This synchronization is anticipated to create fresh opportunities for collaboration.

Throughout the visit, leaders from both nations are expected to engage in discussions regarding the expansion of cooperation in vital areas including trade, investment, tourism, education, and technology. Enhancing supply chains and production collaborations will also be a central theme.

Officials have acknowledged the visit as a pivotal moment to enhance strategic ties and establish a more profound partnership between the two countries. It is anticipated to lay the groundwork for more substantial economic and political collaboration.

The discussions among high-ranking officials, including Xi Jinping, are expected to set the tone for future bilateral relations and support long-term developmental aspirations for both nations.
