Vietnam’s Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has reiterated that enhancing the education and training sector is a primary national focus, stressing the government's unwavering commitment to elevating this domain during a significant meeting with the Ministry of Education and Training on April 25, 2026.

Participating in the meeting were key figures such as Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau and Education Minister Hoang Minh Son, alongside representatives from various ministries and agencies. Their discussions centered on evaluating essential programs, tackling challenges, and expediting priority initiatives within the educational landscape.

Government officials presented updates, noting that notable strides have been made in executing substantive resolutions related to educational reform, the advancement of science and technology, and the digital transformation of the sector. A series of laws, decrees, and policies are being enacted to fortify the institutional framework guiding sectoral growth.

The government is making strides towards universal preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 while ensuring quality and stability at all educational levels. A unified nationwide textbook system is expected to launch in the 2026–2027 academic year, aimed at standardizing educational content and enhancing teaching approaches.

Vietnam is also committed to cultivating a skilled workforce through expanded training initiatives in vital industries and emerging technologies. Key measures include promoting English proficiency in schools, bolstering innovation ecosystems, and fostering partnerships between government, educational institutions, and private enterprises.

Despite these advancements, the Prime Minister recognized that several challenges persist, including teacher shortages in various regions, delays in the restructuring of higher education, gaps in digital integration, and deficiencies in education quality and infrastructure in certain locations.

In moving forward, the government has delineated critical actions aimed at accelerating administrative reforms, fine-tuning policy enactment, enhancing digital data infrastructure, and ensuring effective coordination among involved agencies. Particular attention will be dedicated to improving teacher welfare, especially in remote and underserved regions.

The Prime Minister underlined the necessity of educational reform as a catalyst for economic growth, enhanced labor efficiency, and the attainment of long-term national development objectives. Authorities are being urged to take decisive actions and deliver tangible results in the coming months.
