Vietnam's Economic Vision: PM Advocates for Industrial Growth

Vietnam is set on a path of rapid economic enhancement as Prime Minister Le Minh Hung convened a pivotal meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to assess current progress and outline strategic objectives for 2026. This session took place at the government headquarters in Hanoi.

The Prime Minister underscored the critical importance of the industry and trade sectors in fulfilling the nation's economic ambitions, notably the aim for double-digit growth. He recognized that the effectiveness of these sectors will fundamentally shape the trajectory of Vietnam's economy.

Throughout the meeting, officials reported advances in bolstering institutional frameworks, refining governance, and prioritizing vital sectors such as industrial production, energy innovation, and both domestic and international trade. Identified as key drivers of economic growth, these areas are deemed essential.

The Prime Minister also pointed out existing hurdles, such as global economic volatility, trade restrictions, geopolitical complications, and internal production constraints. He urged for proactive strategies to navigate these challenges and ensure ongoing economic stability.

He directed the ministry to prioritize energy security and ensure the availability of electricity and fuel at all times. Rapid development of major energy initiatives, updating the national energy strategy, and improving inter-agency cooperation were highlighted as essential tasks.

Moreover, the government aims to fortify industrial supply chains, boost local production capabilities, and foster deeper involvement in global markets. This includes enhancing export opportunities, streamlining trade processes, and leveraging existing and future trade agreements.

Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for administrative modernization, digital innovation, and upgrades to the domestic distribution network to enhance consumption and governance. He also highlighted the significance of developing a skilled workforce and fostering accountability within the ministry.

The meeting wrapped up with a firm resolution that the industry and trade sectors must lead the charge toward economic advancement, tackle current challenges, and ensure sustainable and high-caliber growth for Vietnam in the years ahead.
