Vietnam's Government Greenlights Dong Nai City's Formation

Vietnam's government has officially sanctioned the plan to create Dong Nai city, transitioning it into a centrally governed urban zone. This significant development represents an important stride in the region's administrative reform and urban growth strategy. As part of this initiative, 10 new wards will be established in Dong Nai province to ensure improved governance and efficient service delivery.

This resolution was finalized on April 6, 2026, and is indicative of the government's broader objective to transform vital economic areas into more self-sufficient urban centers. Dong Nai, recognized for its robust industrial framework and its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, is poised to gain considerably from this transition.

Officials indicate that the Ministry of Interior proposed this initiative, and the government has now granted its complete endorsement. This action aims to bolster administrative effectiveness, refine infrastructure development, and create favorable conditions for regional investment and growth.

The Ministry of Interior has been designated to lead the finalization of this project. It will gather insights from various state bodies and prepare extensive documentation, which includes draft resolutions, for submission to the National Assembly and its Standing Committee for subsequent evaluation and ratification.

Additionally, the ministry is tasked with collaborating closely with other relevant organizations to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory frameworks. Authorities emphasize the crucial need for accuracy, transparency, and timeliness throughout the execution process to facilitate smooth implementation.

The government stressed that the Ministry of Interior will be fully accountable for the integrity and quality of the proposal, including the necessary reports and supporting materials. Any issues arising outside its jurisdiction must be promptly communicated to the Prime Minister.
