In a startling turn of events, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his spouse, Cilia Flores, were apprehended during a dramatic overnight mission, as disclosed by U.S. President Donald Trump early Saturday.

Trump shared the news at 4:21 AM via social media, confirming Maduro's detention by U.S. authorities. The announcement followed reports of detonations echoing across Caracas, suggesting a significant military intervention.

Witnesses reported multiple loud explosions that occurred within a half-hour window, with smoke emanating from a military base. Furthermore, power outages were reported at another military site. These locations were critical to the Venezuelan military infrastructure.

At the time of the operation, Maduro and Flores were believed to be at their home in the Ft. Tiuna military complex on Caracas' outskirts, when U.S. forces executed the mission, code-named “Absolute Resolve,” under the veil of night after extensive preparations.

According to insiders, the operation included comprehensive drills, with personnel practicing on a model of the presidential estate. U.S. operatives were armed with specialized tools designed to breach fortified safe rooms if required.

A journalist from a prominent U.S. publication, who has been monitoring U.S. relations with Venezuela for nearly a year, reported that initial signs strongly pointed towards U.S. involvement as soon as the explosions occurred. Official confirmation was later provided by Trump himself.

The journalist subsequently reached out to Trump by phone. Though the President did not delve into specifics during their brief exchange, he advised reporters to anticipate more details at an upcoming press conference.

U.S. officials have indicated that Maduro and his wife will face charges related to narco-terrorism in American courts. Having been in power since 2013, Maduro has long leveled accusations against Washington of seeking to destabilize his regime for control over Venezuela's abundant oil reserves.

This bold operation signifies a new peak in tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela, likely provoking profound reactions throughout Latin America and globally as the world awaits further clarifications.
