The United States has introduced a new commercial diplomacy approach aimed at strengthening support for American businesses and expanding their global opportunities. Assistant Secretary of State Caleb Orr discussed the initiative during a meeting with private sector leaders in New York City, highlighting efforts to enhance economic engagement worldwide.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Manhattan Institute, Orr emphasized the launch of the Commercial Diplomacy Enterprise (CDE), a coordinated strategy designed to improve how the U.S. government supports its companies abroad. The initiative aligns existing systems while introducing new tools to help American businesses compete more effectively in international markets.

Officials noted that since January 2025, the State Department has already contributed to more than $432 billion in business successes for U.S. companies, supporting over 1.2 million jobs. The newly launched CDE is expected to build on this progress by accelerating support and opening new opportunities in key global sectors.

The Commercial Diplomacy Enterprise focuses on advancing U.S. economic interests by helping companies navigate foreign markets, identify investment opportunities, and secure major deals. By strengthening coordination within government agencies, the initiative aims to deliver more consistent and effective support for American firms operating internationally.

During the event, Orr also announced the launch of a new online resource through the Office of Commercial and Business Affairs. This platform will allow U.S. companies to register and receive alerts about strategic investment opportunities abroad, helping them stay informed and competitive in a rapidly changing global economy.

The move reflects a broader effort by the United States to prioritize economic diplomacy as a key part of its global strategy, with a focus on job creation, business growth, and strengthening the country’s economic position worldwide.
