Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi highlighted the UAE's strategic efforts to safeguard global trade and uphold economic stability amid the ongoing war in Iran.

During his address at the GLOBSEC Forum 2026 in Prague, particularly in a panel titled “The Ripple Effect: How the Iran War is Shaping Global Economies and Politics”, he elaborated on the swift actions taken by the UAE in response to international shipping and supply chain challenges.

He revealed that alternative trade corridors have been established to facilitate seamless goods transit in the region. This includes a heightened focus on the eastern ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan, the initiation of air freight services for critical food and pharmaceutical deliveries, a Green Corridor in collaboration with Oman, and a newly established trade route linking Sharjah and Dammam.

In a bid to assist businesses during this challenging period, the UAE has introduced a substantial AED 1 billion economic support fund targeted primarily at small and medium-sized enterprises affected by disruptions in regional trade.

Furthermore, the UAE Central Bank has rolled out a comprehensive Five-Pillar Financial Institution Resilience Package designed to ensure sustained credit flow and reinforce financial stability nationwide.

Al Zeyoudi also mentioned that the prevailing crisis has catalyzed the UAE’s long-term vision of enhancing Gulf logistics and establishing a more robust trade framework.

He pointed out that the UAE’s Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) initiative remains pivotal in boosting foreign trade. To date, this initiative has yielded 36 agreements with nations across six continents, aiding the UAE’s non-oil foreign trade to soar to US$1.03 trillion in 2025.

As per Al Zeyoudi, the UAE continues to stand as a key global trade and investment nexus, bridging markets in the Gulf, Africa, and Asia, while its significance in global trade dynamics has intensified amid current geopolitical strains.
