Scheduled for June, the UAE Games 2026 promises an inspiring gathering of over 1,000 athletes across the nation, organized by Special Olympics UAE. This significant event aims to champion inclusivity in sports for People of Determination.
Kicking off with Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics, the competitions will take place in collaboration with Wellfit Gymnastics Academy at Circle Mall, Dubai. Events will then move to ADNEC in Abu Dhabi and Zayed Sports City – Khalifa International Bowling Center.
Anticipated to participate are athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including unified partners, coaches, technical personnel, and officials, as well as teams from Special Olympics Morocco and Special Olympics Malta in selected sports.
The sports lineup features men’s basketball, 3x3 women’s basketball, 7-a-side football, badminton, powerlifting, bocce, and bowling. Additionally, the Motor Activity Training Program is included, showcasing an evolving range of inclusive sporting activities in the UAE.
Key partners supporting the UAE Games 2026 include ADNEC Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aldar Properties, ADNOC, and the Ministry of Sports, among others. Various sports federations, clubs, and training academies are also participating in this initiative.
Special Olympics UAE will host a Partners Platform Day as part of the event to enhance collaboration by bringing together organizations, recognizing partners, and formalizing agreements for future cooperation.
His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, the National Director of Special Olympics UAE, stated that the success of these games showcases collaborative efforts between public and private sectors. He emphasized ongoing support for empowering People of Determination and their integration into society.
The UAE Games occur biennially, with the previous edition in 2024 in Abu Dhabi attracting over 600 athletes competing in six sports, facilitated by numerous officials and thousands of volunteer hours.
In addition to competitive events, the 2026 edition will incorporate initiatives like the Golisano Health Leadership Awards, the Young Athletes Program, esports activities, Games of the Future, and the Fit 5 fitness program.
The UAE Games 2026 are set to strengthen the ethos of inclusion in sports while underlining the nation’s commitment to empowering People of Determination as integral members of society.
