UAE Triumphs over China to Claim Outdoor Badminton World Cup

KHORFAKKAN, UAE: The UAE celebrated a remarkable achievement in sports by claiming the Outdoor Badminton World Cup – National Teams Relay Race, triumphing over China with a score of 60–54 in a breathtaking final set against the picturesque backdrop of Khorfakkan Beach.

Under the auspices of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, this championship showcased elite international teams competing in a distinctive outdoor format that challenged their skills, endurance, and team dynamics. The final was a nail-biter, drawing spectators in as the UAE and China battled fiercely until the very end.

At the closing ceremony, Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, presented the UAE national team with their well-deserved trophy, marking a poignant moment for everyone involved. This event underscored Khorfakkan's increasing prominence as a venue for international sports, merging competitive spirit with a lively coastal atmosphere.

Aside from the relay race, the championship included triples competitions, with Brazil taking home the men’s triples title and China winning in the women’s category, enhancing the event's global appeal and competitive diversity.

The tournament culminated in the awarding of the championship shield as well as recognitions for the organizers, partners, and supporters who played a vital role in making this championship a success. Engaging 96 players from 12 countries across several continents, the competition highlighted the worldwide reach of outdoor badminton.

Drawing large crowds throughout the event, the rising popularity of badminton, especially among Emiratis, was evident. This victory not only showcased the UAE national team’s exceptional talent on an international stage but also highlighted the nation’s ongoing dedication to cultivating and advancing emerging sports through innovative practices.
