On May 6, 2026, the notable “Young Messengers of Peace” initiative concluded at Turkmenistan's Institute of International Relations in Ashgabat. This educational project, rooted in career development, was organized by the institute in collaboration with its School of Young Diplomats, attracting aspiring students from all over Turkmenistan.

Launched in November 2025, coinciding with the International Year of Peace and Trust, the project revolved around the theme “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Center of Peace Policy and Dialogue of Mutual Trust.” The organizers emphasized that the initiative aimed to ignite students' interest in diplomacy, leadership, and Turkmenistan's international relations.

The initial rounds of the competition drew in hundreds of participants from various regions, who faced preliminary tests assessing their knowledge in subjects, national history, and diplomatic affairs. The rising interest of Turkmen youth in education and diplomacy is evident in the increasing number of competitors each year.

The top performers from the qualifications advanced to an engaging main competition, which featured seven qualifying games, two semifinals, and a final championship. Participants were required to showcase extensive knowledge and key skills in leadership, analytical thinking, patience, and performance under pressure.

After months of rigorous competition, six talented finalists reached the last stage, demonstrating not only academic prowess but also creativity, critical thinking, and current international awareness, going beyond typical school knowledge.

The esteemed panel of judges, comprising university experts and lecturers, evaluated the finalists. It included figures such as Begench Karaev from the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy, Oguljeren Hajyeva from TURKSOY, and Toyly Hommyev from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, who assessed the participants on various performance metrics.

In the final tally, the Grand Prix was awarded to Kerim Dovletov, an 11th-grader from Specialized Secondary School No. 6 in Ashgabat. Second and third places were awarded to Kakajan Shokhradov and Aykhan Arslanov, respectively, both from renowned institutions in Turkmenistan.

The final ceremony, held at the institute, saw the winners honored with diplomas, medals, and gifts, along with the Grand Prix winner receiving the coveted Challenge Cup. In a traditional gesture, participants released white doves to symbolize peace and friendship.

The success of the “Young Messengers of Peace” initiative is evident, having emerged as a prominent youth project in Turkmenistan during the past five academic years. With many participants continuing their education in diplomacy and international relations, its long-term impact on Turkmen society is undeniable, as seen by the 37 alumni now pursuing diplomas in this field.
