Trump urges Israel to avoid destabilizing Syria after deadly strike

Post by : Mina Carter

US President Donald Trump has called on Israel to avoid actions that could destabilize Syria, following a deadly strike in the southern village of Beit Jin that claimed 13 lives. In a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump invited him to the White House and stressed the importance of maintaining open and constructive dialogue with Syria.

Trump commended Syria’s new leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, noting the country’s efforts to rebuild after years of conflict and the potential for fostering strong relations with Israel. Both leaders discussed the expansion of regional peace agreements and emphasized the importance of disarming Hamas and stabilizing the Gaza Strip.

Despite recent ceasefires, Israel has continued operations against militant groups in neighboring countries, with its most recent strikes targeting fighters linked to Hamas and allied organizations. Trump reaffirmed the United States’ support for Syria’s recovery and highlighted the broader objective of achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

These discussions come amid ongoing regional tensions and the US administration’s push for stronger security cooperation between Israel and Syria, aiming to prevent further escalation and support the reconstruction of the war-torn region.
