Trump Acknowledges Easing of Iran's Crackdown, Tehran Rejects Execution Claims

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his belief that Iran’s severe crackdown on protests is starting to lighten, as Iranian authorities reject claims that a young man arrested amid the unrest is facing execution. This comes against a backdrop of high anxiety regarding potential escalations in the Middle East.

During a speech at the White House, Trump indicated he received information suggesting that fatalities related to Iran’s protest response are diminishing. He remarked that there appeared to be no imminent plans for mass executions, representing a shift from previous warnings about possible U.S. military intervention should the violence persist.

In parallel, Iranian state outlets reported that a 26-year-old arrested during the protests in Karaj would not face the death penalty. This follows claims from a human rights organization that an execution was imminent.
