Trump Unveils International ‘Board of Peace’ on Gaza, Pakistan Among Members

At the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, U.S. President Donald Trump formally unveiled a new international initiative called the “Board of Peace” aimed at advancing peace, ceasefire, humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip following years of conflict. The board, part of Trump’s broader Gaza peace plan, is intended to bring together countries willing to collaborate on stabilizing the region and facilitating its recovery under a framework linked to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

Among the countries joining the board is Pakistan, which officially accepted Trump’s invitation. Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Islamabad hopes the initiative will help implement a lasting ceasefire, significantly scale up humanitarian assistance for Palestinians and support reconstruction efforts in Gaza, while also advancing the right to self-determination and a political process leading to Palestinian statehood.

The “Board of Peace” includes representatives from a growing list of nations spanning the Middle East, Asia and beyond. Several Muslim-majority countries — such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates — have also confirmed their participation, issuing a joint statement reiterating their commitment to peace efforts as outlined in Trump’s plan.

While the initiative has drawn international attention for its ambitious scope, some world leaders and analysts have voiced caution or concern. Critics warn that the board’s structure and membership could reflect U.S. geopolitical priorities and diverge from traditional multilateral mechanisms, especially given the absence or hesitation of several Western European nations. Others emphasize that the board’s success will depend on clear mandates, cooperation with the United Nations and tangible progress on the ground in humanitarian access and reconstruction.

Supporters of the initiative say it represents a new diplomatic effort to translate ceasefire agreements into concrete action for Gaza’s residents and build momentum toward longer-term peace. As the board begins to take shape, discussions among member states and engagement with stakeholders across the region will be key to determining its effectiveness and credibility in addressing one of the world’s most enduring conflicts
