U.S. President Donald Trump has congratulated the crew of Artemis II mission after their historic journey around the Moon. The President spoke with the astronauts via satellite, marking a rare moment of communication with a crew traveling beyond low-Earth orbit.

The Artemis II mission is a major milestone in space exploration, as it marks humanity’s return to the Moon’s vicinity for the first time since Apollo 17. The astronauts traveled nearly 253,000 miles from Earth, making it one of the farthest human space journeys in history. During the mission, they conducted detailed observations of the Moon’s far side and collected important scientific data.

President Trump praised the astronauts for their courage and achievements, calling them “modern-day pioneers.” He highlighted the importance of their work in advancing deep space exploration and said their mission has made the United States proud on a global stage.

Commander Reid Wiseman described the experience as unforgettable, saying the crew witnessed sights that no human had ever seen before. Pilot Victor Glover explained that during a communication blackout on the Moon’s far side, the team continued scientific observations and gathered valuable data.

Mission specialist Jeremy Hansen spoke about the differences between the Moon’s near and far sides, noting how Earth’s gravity has shaped the visible surface differently. Another mission specialist, Christina Koch, said one of the most emotional moments was seeing Earth again after the blackout period, reminding the crew of the importance of protecting the planet.

President Trump also recognized the international nature of the mission, especially highlighting the contribution of Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. He said the mission reflects global pride and cooperation in space exploration.

The President invited the Artemis II crew to the White House to celebrate their achievements, emphasizing that their success is being recognized around the world. The mission is seen as a key step toward future lunar landings and long-term human presence beyond Earth.
