The Raja Saab Box Office Debut: A Promising Start for Prabhas

Post by : Bianca Hayes

Prabhas has launched 2026 with an impressive box office debut as his latest film, The Raja Saab, enjoys strong performances on its opening day. Directed by Maruthi, this horror comedy has elicited varied responses from critics, yet it has resonated well with the actor's vast fan following.

As per initial box office figures, The Raja Saab raked in ₹15.34 crore net in India by 4 PM on Friday, according to Sacnilk. Although early bookings began later than usual and the film deviates from typical mass action genres, the opening numbers remain commendable.

Film industry observers initially predicted The Raja Saab would see the weakest launch among Prabhas’ recent films post-pandemic. However, it has exceeded expectations, even surpassing the morning earnings of Dhurandhar, which has dominated the Indian box office for five weeks.

By 9 AM, The Raja Saab had already overtaken Dhurandhar’s prior day intake of ₹4.25 crore, officially claiming the top position at the box office.

In comparison with Prabhas’ earlier ventures, the opening is lower than Salaar (₹90 crore), Kalki 2898 AD (₹95 crore), and Adipurush (₹86 crore). Nevertheless, The Raja Saab is anticipated to exceed the opening day earnings of several major hits such as Jawan (₹64 crore), Animal (₹63 crore), Leo (₹64.80 crore), and Dhurandhar (₹30 crore).

The film’s box office performance over the weekend will be pivotal in determining its long-term success.

The Raja Saab signifies Prabhas’ return to the family-friendly entertainment scene after over a decade. Following the Baahubali franchise, his recent works primarily consisted of large-scale action films. Fans are dubbing this release as a revival of “vintage Prabhas.”

In addition to Prabhas, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab.
