In a significant step towards enhancing student safety, Thailand’s Ministry of Education has introduced the innovative “Edusafe School” platform, aimed at improving protection and emergency protocols across schools nationwide. This initiative was formally launched during a signing event in Bangkok on May 15, 2026, presided over by Education Minister Prasert Chantarawongthong.
The Ministry has partnered with over eighteen organizations through a Memorandum of Understanding, promoting collaboration for school safety and ensuring safe learning environments for students. This agreement showcases the government’s commitment to prioritizing student well-being.
According to the Education Minister, the Edusafe School platform facilitates quick emergency responses via smartphones. In critical situations, users can activate an SOS feature that connects instantly to Google Earth, relaying precise location data to a central command for rapid intervention.
Additionally, the system has the capability to capture audio information and communicate details directly to emergency personnel available around the clock. Officials noted that the platform aims not only to report emergencies but also to extend comprehensive support services to students, educators, and families.
The Edusafe School initiative is associated with a Rights Protection Center, which provides psychological support, legal advice, and rehabilitation services—all available through a single support channel. The government is optimistic that this project will significantly enhance both physical and emotional well-being within educational settings.
Authorities highlighted the necessity of such safety measures, as schools increasingly face threats including violence, drug incidents, accidents, and digital risks. The new safety network intends to bridge existing gaps in emergency readiness and optimize collaboration between educational establishments and government agencies.
Key organizations that have joined this cooperative agreement include the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, Royal Thai Police, and the Equitable Education Fund. Collectively, these entities will focus on preventative strategies, emergency preparedness, and safeguarding student welfare.
Education officials stressed that the initiative aims for long-term sustainability by fostering cooperation across various sectors rather than relying solely on government funding. There is a strong belief that this technology-driven system will cultivate safer learning environments, enabling students to study with peace and assurance.
