The Thai government is stepping up its nationwide initiative to combat corruption by enhancing collaboration between public entities and private sectors, aiming to boost transparency, accountability, and governance across the nation.
On May 20, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul led a significant meeting at Government House in Bangkok, focusing on uniting public and private efforts to thwart corruption. Attendees included officials, business leaders, and members of the Zero Corruption Working Group.
During the session, the Prime Minister welcomed a six-point anti-corruption proposal from the business community, urging relevant agencies to refine internal processes, enhance data availability, and coordinate with anti-corruption organizations. He commended business leaders for recognizing corruption as a critical barrier to economic growth and administrative efficiency.
The proposals suggested fostering long-term awareness of anti-corruption, bolstering governance policies in both government agencies and businesses, enhancing corruption risk management frameworks, and improving access to transparent public information. They also encouraged the utilization of Big Data and AI for identifying suspicious behavior and enabling real-time monitoring.
Prime Minister Anutin stressed the need for all government agencies to audit their operations consistently to uphold accountability and ensure strict legal adherence. He instructed departments to leverage modern digital technologies to enhance public service delivery, minimize delays, and promote transparency in administrative functions.
The Thai government continues to advance its “Open Government” initiative by integrating information systems designed for verifying and publicly disclosing government data. Officials perceive this approach as beneficial to diminish discretionary decision-making and fortify public trust in state institutions.
Business representatives at the gathering expressed gratitude for the opportunity for open dialogue and acknowledged the government's promptness in addressing concerns and suggestions. They advocated that robust government-private sector collaboration could lead to sustainable structural reforms in the fight against corruption.
