In a significant meeting held in Bangkok, Natthariya Thaweewong, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, outlined plans for the 2027 budget aimed at bolstering economic growth through tourism and sports. The session emphasized improving the quality of life for residents, especially in local communities.

Attending officials included senior representatives from various departments, participating both in person and online to foster broader input and collaboration. Central to the discussions was the creation of a streamlined budget prioritizing impactful projects while minimizing unnecessary expenditure.

Leaders urged a careful allocation of government resources, emphasizing the necessity for each budget segment to directly benefit the populace and further national growth, ensuring responsible financial management.

A highlight was the introduction of the “Community Plus” initiative. This policy aims to empower local communities by creating sustainable income opportunities through tourism and sports, ultimately enhancing living conditions and job prospects in these areas.

As part of this initiative, plans are in place to train tourism and sports volunteers across all 77 provinces. These volunteers will serve as local ambassadors, guiding visitors and promoting regional culture while contributing to tourism's development.

The need for improved inter-departmental collaboration was also underscored, advocating for the alignment of national, regional, and local strategies to maximize effectiveness.

Furthermore, adjustments in the roles of tourist assistance personnel were proposed, enhancing their connection with local communities to boost safety, resolve issues promptly, and build stronger relationships between tourists and residents.

The meeting also sought to refine tourism strategies, ensuring they align with local development requirements for balanced and inclusive growth.

In conclusion, the government expressed firm belief in tourism and sports as pivotal elements for economic revitalization, positing that careful planning and resourceful cooperation can yield increased opportunities, enhanced income, and overall improved quality of life for all Thai citizens.
