Known for her candid observations, Sunita Ahuja — the wife of veteran actor Govinda — has spoken out about what she sees as excessive spending on religious ceremonies and the influence of those surrounding him. She said the family priest often encourages elaborate pujas that can cost lakhs, yet she feels these rituals yield little real value.
Sunita argued that genuine faith is reflected in everyday actions rather than expensive rites. She told reporters she prefers direct acts of charity and helping people, which she believes build real karma. She also complained that some individuals posing as writers who surround Govinda lack true creativity and sincerity.
On the professional front, Sunita revealed Govinda plans to produce three films but is being hampered by poor guidance and unreliable partners. She added that she worries about his well-being and hopes he will pay more attention to fitness and self-care.
Sunita said certain people close to Govinda deliberately speak against her, creating friction in their marriage. The couple, married since 1987, have recently been the subject of separation rumours.
Govinda has largely stepped back from the public eye; his most recent release, Rangeela Raja (2019), was a commercial disappointment.
