Solico Group, recognized as a key player in the Middle East's food manufacturing landscape, has inaugurated its innovative SoFood production facility valued at AED 130 million (approximately $35.4 million) in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). This facility will act as Solico’s primary hub for creativity in the GCC and international manufacturing, marking a significant financial commitment in the UAE.

Covering an area of 5,000 m², the design of SoFood allows for adaptable phases of production, enabling the company to venture into new food categories without hindrance. The initial output is projected to reach 40 tons per day, with cutting-edge European manufacturing technologies being implemented.

“The UAE boasts one of the most vibrant food manufacturing ecosystems,” noted Gholamali Soleimani, the Founder and Group Chairman of Solico Group. “This investment solidifies our presence in the region, bolsters food security, and embodies the principles my family laid down over 50 years ago.”

Solico Group is known for establishing the first milk refinery in Central Asia and aims to leverage its expertise in advanced manufacturing within the UAE. The facility is set to contribute to industrial progress, boost local manufacturing capabilities, and facilitate a transition from trade-based supply chains to value-adding production.

The inaugural phase of SoFood will specialize in meat and protein production under the prominent brand Pemina, with plans to distribute across the GCC and other international markets. Subsequent phases will include cheese, dairy products, premixes, sauces, and co-packed solutions for the hospitality sector, which are selected based on their regional significance and export potential.

Additionally, SoFood will serve as an innovation hub, creating products tailored to Middle Eastern preferences, promoting freshness through optimized supply chains, and fostering local employment and skill enhancement.

His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, commented: “Solico’s major investment in Jafza underscores Dubai’s robust industrial environment. This facility will enhance food security, generate quality employment, and bolster the growth of value-added manufacturing in the UAE.”

The design of the facility prioritizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient systems, water conservation methods, waste reduction protocols, and various certifications such as ISO 22000, HACCP, Halal, and a Grade A rating from Dubai Municipality.

Strategically situated within the DP World-managed Jebel Ali ecosystem, SoFood has advantageous access to global logistics routes, allowing Solico to connect with over 3 billion consumers in adjacent markets while supporting the UAE’s “Make it in the Emirates” initiative.
