Renowned artist Smokey Robinson is under scrutiny as two former employees come forward with sexual assault allegations, just six months after four other women initiated a $50 million lawsuit against him. The new claims, made by individuals named John Doe 1 and Jane Doe 5, allege that Robinson attempted to coerce them into inappropriate physical contact.
Jane Doe 5 recounted instances of ongoing harassment during her tenure as a housekeeper from 2005 to 2011, stating that he requested her to join him in the bathroom while he was showering and to wash his back. John Doe 1, who was employed to work on Robinson's vehicles from 2013 onwards, claimed he was confronted by Robinson in only his underwear and subjected to unprofessional conduct. He described the resultant emotional distress, humiliation, and continuous fear for his well-being.
Both accusers eventually resigned due to the harassment they experienced and hesitated to speak out due to fears of retaliation, societal stigma, and immigration issues. The new allegations reflect patterns found in the initial lawsuit, concerning similar behaviors, settings, and timelines.
Robinson's attorney, Christopher Frost, has rejected these claims, labeling the lawsuit as “a coordinated, greedy effort to extract funds from an 85-year-old icon.” A hearing on the revised complaint is set for January 6, 2026. Meanwhile, the Special Victims Bureau is conducting a sexual assault investigation into Robinson.
