Next, chop off the roots.

Lay a clean paper towel on a flat surface.

Place the coriander onto the towel and lightly mist it with water.

Gently wrap the coriander within the towel.

Store it in a box or container inside the refrigerator.

Chef Kabir notes that refrigerators can dry out herbs, causing them to lose their vibrancy. By lightly moistening the paper towel, the coriander remains supple and fresh for extended periods. He emphasizes that too much water can lead to spoilage, necessitating only a faint sprinkle. He also advises removing any yellowed or damaged leaves before storage.

Method 2: The ‘Real Tariqa’ Technique

Following the first method, Chef Kabir refers to it as “average,” introducing an even more effective solution he calls the “real tariqa,” which doesn’t require refrigeration.

Here’s how it goes:

Trim the roots of the coriander.

Fill a glass jar with clean water.

Position the coriander upright in the jar like a small plant.

Keep it in a cool area away from direct heat.

Kabir explains that since the coriander remains an active plant, it absorbs water from the bottom, maintaining its freshness and vibrant green color for an extended duration. He showcases the coriander in the video, commenting on its “khila khila” (fresh and lively) appearance.

However, he offers essential warnings:

Avoid placing the jar near any heat source like a gas stove, as excessive heat can cause the coriander to dry out.

Regularly change the water every two days to ensure cleanliness and safety.
