In June 2026, Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) is set to unveil 2,520 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats, aimed at substantially reducing waiting times for future homeowners. This initiative marks a key step in the city-state’s ongoing commitment to enhancing housing accessibility in the aftermath of pandemic-related setbacks.
The flats will be distributed across three distinct projects in Sembawang and Ang Mo Kio. This launch is part of an ambitious plan that includes around 6,900 BTO units scheduled for release, with over one-third projected to have waiting times of three years or less.
Among these developments, Sembawang Portico stands out with the most concise wait time of roughly two years and seven months. This project will offer 875 units, featuring two-room flexi, three-room, four-room, and five-room configurations to cater to various household needs.
Sembawang Brook, located in the same area, will add 1,160 units that range from two-room flexi flats to homes designed for multi-generational living. Buyers can anticipate a waiting period of around two years and nine months, positioning it as one of the swiftest housing solutions in recent years.
In the well-established estate of Ang Mo Kio, the Kebun Baru Ridge project will offer 485 three-room and four-room flats. Completion is projected for three years and one month, with community features like a minimart and an eatery to enhance residents' convenience.
These shorter waiting periods signal the recovery trajectory of Singapore’s public housing sector, having faced significant interruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in prolonged wait times ranging up to five years.
According to HDB, the median wait for new BTO projects has now dipped below four years. This latest launch exemplifies Singapore’s aim to bolster housing availability, expedite project timelines, and promote quicker home ownership for families.
